Many Minecraft players build out of whatever the nearest material to hand is. That might be dirt, cobblestone, netherrack, or something else. I’ve even seen a house made of clay, which is sure to result in a sticky situation before too long.
许多 Minecraft 玩家善于就地取材来建造，如泥土、圆石、下界岩等，五花八门。我还见到过用黏土盖的房子，相信过不了多久屋主人就坐不住了。

But other players like to take a little more care with their constructions – building out of bricks, carefully-selected woods or planks, polished stone, or colorful concrete. It’s this last choice that we’re looking at today – because our block of the month is the raw material you’ll need to make it. It’s concrete powder!
另一些玩家则对自己的建筑比较上心，会用红砖块、特挑木头或木板、磨制石头、多彩混凝土等来做建材。我们今天关注的是最后一种，因为如果想要制作混凝土，就需要用到我们的本月方块做原材料，那就是混凝土粉末！



Concrete powder was added to Minecraft in the World of Color update in June 2017, which also added glazed terracotta, illusioners, and parrots. It’s made using four blocks of sand and four blocks of gravel, as well as a single type of dye.
混凝土粉末是在 2017 年 6 月发布的《多彩世界更新》中加入 Minecraft 的，与之一同加入的还有带釉陶瓦、幻术师、鹦鹉，由四块沙子、四块沙砾，加上一种染料制成。

The dye is what gives concrete its color – so there are sixteen possibilities to choose. They go all the way from bright orange to dark blue, taking in magenta, red, cyan, gray, white and black along the way.
染料为混凝土添上颜色，十六彩缤纷任君选择。从亮橙色到深蓝色，中间还有品红色、红色、青色、灰色、白色、黑色等颜色。

Concrete powder, as it’s made of sand and gravel, is affected by gravity – it’ll fall if you place it in the world without a block below it. To keep it in place, you’ll need to turn it into concrete – which is done by bringing it into contact with water - either place it into the water, or allow water to flow next to it.
混凝土粉末由沙子和沙砾制成，自然难逃重力影响。若把它放在世界中，又无其他方块承托，就会往下掉。为了让它定住，需要制成混凝土，方法是把它放到水里，或让水挨着流过。

Note that it’ll need to be a full block of water – water bottles or rain won’t have any effect. Oh, and you need to actually place the block into the world – throwing concrete powder into water in item form won’t do a thing.
注意需要使用完整的一格水，水瓶和雨淋都不会有效果。对了，还需要把方块真正放置到世界中，以物品形式扔进水里也是没用的。

Where does all that concrete go? Into construction, mostly. When you mix cement with sand, gravel and water you get a super-strong material that can be cast into almost any shape. There are many different kinds that come with very different properties, all based on what goes into the mix – from asphalt concrete for roads, to concrete reinforced with microbes, or even sci-fi materials like graphene.
这么多混凝土都用到哪去了呢？主要是用在建筑上了。将水泥与沙子、沙砾、水混合，就能得到一种极为坚固的材料，而且可以浇筑成几乎任何形状。混凝土种类不一而足，属性也大相庭径，具体取决于成分。铺路混凝土可以添加沥青，强化混凝土则可能添加微生物，甚至加入石墨烯等黑科技材料。

Some people don’t like the look of concrete buildings, but many others appreciate their brutalist aesthetic. It’s even possible to polish the concrete to expose its structure, making it more attractive to the eye.
有些人反感混凝土建筑的样貌，但也有许多人欣赏其展现的粗野主义美学。甚至有一种技艺，通过打磨混凝土，可以显露出其内部结构，以此提升观感。

Whatever the reason for concrete’s enduring popularity, it’s definitely worth a look as a building material in Minecraft – it’s cheap to make, fun to build with, comes in all kinds of colors, and we promise that it won’t burn down under any circumstances. If that’s not something to get excited about, I don’t know what is!
抛开混凝土久盛不衰的原因不谈，它在 Minecraft 中也照样十分适合用作建材。它制作起来成本低廉、过程有趣，可以呈现缤纷的色彩，并且我们保证其在任何情况下都烧不坏。如果这都不够亮眼，还要怎样才算亮眼？
